MSAA STATE 3-D CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT HANDBOOK

 

This is normally a two-day tournament however; it may be a one-day event at the option of the host club.

 

Clubs wishing to host this event will, through the cooperation of their Governor, submit a bid to the MSAA Secretary or Bowhunter VP. Any intent to hold a one-day event should be already spelled out in the bid. The host club will then be selected by secret vote at the Policy Committee Meeting. In a two-day event, a contestant will enter only one score and this must be from the first round shot. Any contestant may shoot a second round for practice but must pay a second shooting fee.

Ø      A host club will provide at least 30 acceptable 3-D targets of its own for the 3-D Championship.

The MSAA Bowhunter VP and the Governor from the host club will co-chair the tournament and will inspect the range for any safety hazards.

Ø      The Bowhunter VP will have the ability to make any changes to target placement, as he deems necessary.

Ø      Three-member committee consisting of the Bowhunter VP, Area Governor and a member of the Host Club will inspect the 3-D course for shot placement prior to the event.

 

I.                    REGISTRATION

A.     On a two-day shoot, registration will be from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday and from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Sunday. On a one-day shoot, registration will be from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. members of the host club will handle Registration. Shooting may begin as soon as a group has completed registration. If the host club so desires, it may have a shotgun start.

B.    With the exception of out-of-state shooters, a contestant must be a MSAA member to qualify for awards. Out-of-State shooters need not join the MSAA, and will shoot in a separate division.

C.    Non-members may join at the time of registration and qualify for awards; however, they must do so before shooting. A new membership purchased at this time will be valid through the remainder of the year, plus the following calendar year.

D.    Non-members wishing to shoot and not being concerned with awards, may do so, but will be required to pay full registration fees for their age group.

E.     MSAA Tournament Fees apply (1/08/05)

F.     All fees collected shall be sent to the MSAA. The MSAA will reimburse all fees but $5.00 for every shooter.

G.    By mutual agreement between the co-chairperson and the President of the host club, the MSAA will pay up to $15.00 in mailing expense for additional publicity to clubs mailing list. This will be done in the prospect of exposing the MSAA to more archers and potential MSAA members.

H.    No less than 3 nor more than 6 shooters in a group and the make-up of the group shall be at the discretion of the host club.

I.        All shooters that want to qualify for the door prizes must be a current MSAA member. They may join at the State 3-D Championship.

 

II.                  CONCESSIONS

A.     The host club will handle any concessions, and proceeds from concessions and novelty shoots, such as running deer, etc., will go to the host club.

 

III.                TARGETS

A.     Shall be provided by the host club.

 

IV.                SCORING

A.     The MSAA BOWHUNTER VP and the Governor for the host club shall determine scoring.

B.    MSAA Protest Policy applies.

 

V.                  TROPHIES

A.     The Awards Chairperson will order all of the trophies for the 3-D Championship.

B.    The MSAA will pay for all trophies.

C.    Awards will be given out according to the MSAA’s Awards Policy.

D.    The Co-Chairperson will assist in the distribution of the awards.

E.     Divisions with more than 30 shooters will be divided in half and flighted.

F.     The 3-D Championship will have a challenge stake; AA Shooters are required to shoot from this stake. The same stake will be used for all adults, male and female, although separate male and female divisions will exist.

 

VI.                EQUIPMENT

A.     Broadheads will not be used.

B.    No optical range finders will be allowed in the field.

C.    Equipment rules shall be included in advertising flyers.

D.    No minimum weight limit for youth and cub.

E.     The mechanical release will be legal for this tournament.

F.     Binoculars will be legal for this event.

G.    Arrow must not exceed a chronograph speed of 280 fps plus 3% for the 3-D Championship (with the exception of the challenge stakes, to which the speed limit does not apply (1/04/03).
